CLEVELAND, Ohio – LeBron James hasn’t said much about basketball since the Los Angeles Lakers season ended. Yet, the drama surrounding his status with the team keeps getting bigger and bigger.
The latest rumors involve the possibility of the Lakers trading James after the team failed to reach a deal with Tyronn Lue to be the head coach. Heck, Forbes thinks James should demand a trade.
This has led to people suggesting something that would have seemed outrageous at the start of the 2018-2019 season. Fans on social media have brought up the idea of the New York Knicks or the Cleveland Cavaliers earning the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft and then trading it to the Lakers for James.
The Cavs and Knicks, along with the Phoenix Suns, have the best chance of landing the No. 1 pick at the NBA Lottery on May 14. This would effectively mean trading the rights to Zion Williamson, the most hyped NBA prospect since James.
If the Cavs get the #1 pick Dan Gilbert could pull of the ultimate stick it to LeBron and trade Zion for him and he'd be stuck here for 3 more seasons or retire.

This a crazy prediction but what if the Lakers trade LeBron to New York for Zion & then Kyrie go to New York 😂

I don’t see it happening still but I’ve got to think that if the Lakers WERE to trade LeBron, they’d probably be targeting a Zion/Simmons/Luka piece in return as opposed to another star who doesn’t fit the timeline or a bunch of smaller assets.

The #Lakers should trade Lebron James to whoever gets the #1 draft pick, then draft Zion Williamson.

Trade for the first pick in the draft lowkey. Zion looking like a once in a generation player. Lakers would have a solid young core for years to come and you can probably get a another decent player in that trade. Lebron my boy so I want him out LA.

I'd trade him to anyone for Zion 💪🏽

There are a ton of issues with this, including contract value, age and the idea of James returning to Cleveland. But odds makers seem to think it is, at least, a possibility.
Online sports betting site Bovada recently posted odds on which team James will play for at the start of the 2019-2020 season. The Lakers are the clear choice at -600. Yet, the Cavs are in the mix at +1000, behind only the two teams in Los Angeles and the Knicks.
