WATCH: Nationals' Adam Eaton calls out Mets' Todd Frazier after beef: 'He's very childish' - SNY.tv

As the Mets were beating the Nationals on Monday night at Citi Field, the MASN camera caught something -- Todd Frazier of the Mets and Adam Eaton of the Nationals having to be separated between innings.

During the incident, some of the Nationals started spilling out of the dugout in preparation for a potential brawl.

So what happened?

"Ahh that was nothing," Frazier said after the game. Nothing at all."

Pressed further on what started it, Frazier held firm.

"I said it was nothing. It really was nothing."

It wasn't nothing to Eaton, though.

"Gosh knows what goes on in that guy's mind, but he's chirping all the way across the infield and, I don't know, he must really like me because it seems he wants to get my attention," Eaton said after the game. "It seems like every time we come here to town and he really cares what I think about him, I guess. I don't know what the deal is. I don't know if he wants to talk to me in person or have a visit or what it is. But, like you said, he's always yelling across the infield at me. He's made a habit of it."

Eaton kept going at Frazier in a response that lasted roughly two minutes, seemingly saying that once he confronted him, Frazier started to back down.

"He's one of those guys that always says it loud enough so you can hear it but you can't understand it," Eaton said. "He's making a habit of it. I ignored him a couple of times as he's chirping coming across, and I had it to the point where -- I'm not gonna say the saying that I want to say -- you gotta be a man at some point and so I turned around, had a few choice words with him. It's funny, I was walking towards him and he didn't really want to walk towards me. But as soon as someone held him back, then he was like all of a sudden was really impatient trying to get towards me. Like I said, just being Todd Frazier. What's new?

Asked why Frazier was chipring, Eaton said the Mets infielder was "Just being himself. That's about as basic as I can say."

Eaton added the he was "absolutely" surprised by it, calling Frazier "very childish."

"I'm walking with my head down, the play is over with I'm walking away. ... I'm a 30-year-old man with two kids. Got a mortgage and everything and he wants to loud-talk as he's running off the field. At the end of the day I've gotta be a man about it, and I tried to stay patient with the childishness. It is what it is. I gotta stand up to it eventually."

While the on-field fireworks between Frazier and Eaton fizzled on Monday night, the Mets and Nats have three games left against one another this week. Buckle up.
