P.K. Subban is ready to dance with the Devils.
“I’m a Devil. Let’s go. It’s on,” the superstar defenseman said in a video posted to his personal Twitter hours after New Jersey and the Predators completed a blockbuster trade to kick off the second round of the NHL draft on Saturday. He also changed his profile picture to a photoshopped image of his face in a Devil costume.
The Devils sent a pair of young defensemen — Steve Santini and Jeremy Davies — and second-round draft picks (2019 and ’20) in exchange for the superstar in a deal many are calling another massive win for the club. A day earlier, the Devils added Jack Hughes with the No. 1 pick.
In the two-minute clip, Subban thanked the city of Nashville, where he played for three seasons, and pledged to continue his efforts with “Blueline Buddies,” a program he started there to connect the police and underprivileged youth.
“Didn’t achieve what we wanted and that hurts,” the 30-year-old Subban said in reference to the Predators’ playoff failures, which included a Stanley Cup final loss to the Penguins in 2017.
Clad in sweats and a hoodie, Subban then threw on a hat with the Red Bull emblem (of which he is a client), saying it was the closest item he had to Devils memorabilia. The Red Bulls soccer club of course plays only a 20-minute Path ride away from the Prudential Center, home of the Devils.
“Are you guys ready for the Subbanator?” he added before turning to one of his dogs.
“Lucy, we’re going to Jersey! Let’s go.”
Subban’s girlfriend, famous Olympian Lindsey Vonn, also seemed pumped, tweeting “Let’s go,” alongside the Devil and muscle emojis earlier.
