Over the previous few months, there’s been rampant speculation about what the outcome of the pending NFL investigation into Tyreek Hill would be. For those who are unfamiliar, Hill was suspended from all Kansas City Chiefs activities after incriminating audio was released of a conversation between him and his fiancé on the night of the 2019 NFL Draft.
This was added to the previous situation where Hill choked and beat the same woman while she was pregnant in 2014 before he was eligible for the NFL Draft. On top of all of this, Hill was also being investigated for the reason why their three-year-old child was removed from the custody of their home just days prior to the audio being released.
This led to incredible uncertainty when it comes to fantasy football of where to take Tyreek Hill in drafts, whether to keep or trade him in Dynasty leagues, etc. due to the pending NFL investigation…
Well, we have an answer now from the NFL.
The NFL Will Not Suspend Tyreek Hill For The 2019 Season
Breaking news earlier this morning from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed that the NFL does not plan to suspend Hill following its investigation.
Sources: The NFL is not planning to suspend #Chiefs star WR Tyreek Hill following its thorough investigation into allegations of child abuse, per @JamesPalmerTV and me.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) July 19, 2019
According to the NFL, Hill did not violate any of the rules of the Personal Conduct Policy and is eligible to return to team activities. This comes just a week or so away from when the Chiefs players will all report for training camp and the 2019 season will be kicked off.
Fantasy Football Impact
Tyreek Hill should now be elevated back into the 1st round discussion of redraft leagues. He instantly elevates the offense in Kansas City and is a huge boost to Patrick Mahomes‘ potential as well.

Meanwhile, this does mean a slight hit to the other weapons in KC that stood to benefit from Hill’s absence. Travis Kelce will naturally see a downtick in targets, which means that he should no longer be considered in the back of the 1st round of redraft leagues. Sammy Watkins will still see plenty of targets and touchdown opportunities, but the overall number of targets will naturally go down as well. The biggest hit to their fantasy outlook for 2019 though is for rookie Mecole Hardman. Hardman had an incredible opportunity to step onto the field and make an impact on day one, however, he’ll likely be only on the field in 3-WR sets and this puts a slight cloud on his projected potential this season.
All in all, Hill is back on the field and should be drafted as a top-5 WR. For those who took the leap of faith and acquired or drafted him during this tumultuous offseason, congratulations. Your investment has paid off.
It’s Cheetah time.
